Description

What is Fenbendazole?

Fenbendazole is a member of the class of benzimidazoles that is 1H-benzimidazole which is substituted at positons 2 and 5 by (methoxycarbonyl)amino and phenylsulfanediyl groups, respectively. A broad-spectrum anthelmintic, it is used, particularly in veterinary medicine, for the treatment of nematodal infections. It has a role as an antinematodal drug. It is a member of benzimidazoles, a carbamate ester and an aryl sulfide.

Fenbendazole Uses

Fenbendazole has a good effect on the gastrointestinal and respiratory tract nematodes of poultry. The daily dose of 8mg/kg is used for 6 days, which is highly effective against roundworms, capillaries and tapeworms. The effective dose for turkey roundworms is 350mg/kg once, but if the feed concentration is 45mg/kg for 6 days, all turkey roundworms, Heterodactylidae and closed capillaries will be eliminated. The best deworming program for pheasants, partridges, grouses, geese, and ducks is to use a feed concentration of 60mg/kg for 6 days. Domestic pigeons naturally infected with closed capillaries and roundworms are fed at 100mg/kg for 3-4 days, and the effective rate is almost 100%.

Fenbendazole Pharmacology

Fenbendazole is a benzimidazole anthelmintic. It not only has a high anthelmintic activity against adults and larvae of gastrointestinal nematodes, but also has a good effect on Dictychias, Fasciola and tapeworms, and has a strong killing effect.

1. Sheep: For the adults and larvae of Haemonchus laevis, Oersted nematode, Trichostrongylus, Cooper nematode, Nematodes, Nematodes, Chabert nematodes, Mouth nematodes, Trichuris elegans, Dictychus elegans Effective. It has a good repellent effect on expanding Monizia tapeworm and Monizia bechii tapeworm. A large dose is required for fluke trematodes, such as 20 mg/kg for 5 days, the effective rate is 100% for Dichaenia lanceolata; 15 mg/kg for 6 days is effective for Fasciola hepatica.

2. Cattle: The deworming spectrum for cattle is roughly similar to that of sheep. A higher dose is required for trematodes, such as 7.5~10mg/kg for 6 days. It has a good effect on adults of Fasciola hepatica and young worms.

3. Horses: It has excellent effects on the adults and larvae of Paracaris equine, Acanthocerus equine, Przewalskii viviparous, Ordinary round nematode, Strongyloides dentatus, round nematode equine, and small round nematode.

4. Pig: It has a good deworming effect on the adults and larvae of Ascaris suum, Strongyloides red, and esophagus nematode. 3mg/kg for 3 days, it also has a significant killing effect on the crown worm.

5. Dogs and cats: Oral administration of 25mg/kg for dogs has obvious effects on hookworm, Trichinella spiralis and roundworms. 50mg/kg used continuously for 14 days can kill the larvae of Ascaris canine in the migration period; continuous use for 3 days can almost eliminate tapeworms. The treatment dose for cats for 3 days is highly effective against cat roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms.

6. Wild animals: oral administration of 5 mg/kg for 3 to 5 days to deer infected with Oersted nematode, Cooper nematode, Nematode worm, Trichostrongylus, Trichomonas, Pneumocystis for 3 to 5 days, has a good effect, in addition to Monitz Tapeworms also play a role. For various carnivorous raptors severely infected with fowl roundworms, saw spines, capillaries and trematodes, a dose of 25mg/kg for 3 days is effective for almost all of the above-mentioned parasites.
